DESCRIPTION AND PERSONALITY: Cole Mercer while not a cold young man is a bit of a loner. Not by choice mind you, he always liked having friends however after the knowledge of his powers were discovered by the town he was run out so the fear still is fresh in his mind. However he also has a bigger flaw, his arrogance, due to discovering his powers on his own and refining them as best he could at the local junkyard. He developed a bit of arrogance having not been forced to fight other mutants he never had to face anything that didn't present much of a challenge. He even went so far as to eventually start using his powers to stand up for weaker people. His parents made sure to teach him right from wrong, acceptance of others, and above all defending those who couldn't defend themselves. That had a heavier influence on his ideals. Having first discovered his powers when fighting a bully at his school. Cole sees normal humans as weaker than him, whilst that doesn't mean he looks down on them it is what drives him to be a vigilante with a strong belief in defending those who cannot defend themselves. However he also enjoys fighting, using his powers, pushing his limits, and above all refining his powers. While he does enjoy a challenge, he also knows when it is best to talk your way out of something. He is by no means foolish, in fact by some standards he would be quite intelligent. While this never showed in his grades due to his lack of effort more than anything. Cole Mercer was always look at as strange as a young child for one main reason. His hair is a bright shining silver. The true reason why is unknown, in current day he blames his mutation for causing his hair to be that color. As a child he was made fun of for it but as a teenager he learned to like it. Thinking it was awesome that his hair was naturally an unusual color. He takes pride in it almost saying it makes him: "Look good" However when it comes to clothing he has a habit of wearing a similar style, while in vigilante mode he typically wears a hooded black leather jacket, to keep his face hidden he wears a black gas mask that has two horns attached to it, a simple black T shirt with no design or any symbols on it. His pants normally nothing more than black jeans, and to finish it off a pair of black combat boots, keeping his generic appearance allowed him to stay hidden from the public when using his powers. However when in casual clothes, a similar set of clothing is used but instead wears a hooded coat, the hood having white fur around the end, a collar also being on the jacket, underneath he wears a simple white T shirt, dark blue jeans, and similar black combat boots. HISTORY Cole was born to Garrett and Aimee Mercer, in a small town in Illinois not too far from a rather dangerous metropolitan area. While the couple never planned to move out of the small town due to enjoying the small town life. They were a bit astonished when their child grew Silver hair for no reason. The Doctor told them it was nothing to be concerned about so they simply considered it something to be proud of and being what made him special. Cole had a fairly normal life, aside from being bullied for his hair. As he grew older however he began to defend himself. Garrett was a simple man, working for one of the major corporate offices in the nearby metropolitan area. His mother took the role of stay at home mother. Cole however never liked one more than the other. Once he reached high school he began to find his own look accenting his silver hair. It managed to get him attention from one of the main football player Henry Jameson girlfriend Kara Heartland leading to a confrontation he had no intention of causing. Being a friendly boy he never turned down a chance to cheer someone up and one day whilst trying to comfort the Kara ((whom he had befriended unaware of why)) he found himself being kissed by her for simply trying to tell her she was beautiful. only to have Henry walk into the gymnasium to see. A fight ensued, and being a scrawnier kid in far contrast to the bulkier build of Henry Cole wasn't able to do a whole lot, several hits and Cole wouldn't stay down simply trying to explain himself. However he had finally had enough and when he threw punch back he was astonished to see Henry sent flying through across the gymnasium into as et of mats on the wall. This was when he first discovered his powers. Realizing that he had the ability to make things move at a velocity of his desire simply by touching them. Cole immediately rushed home, he couldn't hide something like this from his parents. So without even waiting he rushed in and told them he believed he was a mutant. His parents merely smiled and accepted him telling him that they loved him no matter what he was. His father then encouraged him to try and refine his skills. Having been friends with the owner of hte junkyard Garrett convinced him to let his son use it to refine his powers. Cole then spent the next few weeks training himself how to use his powers at the junkyard. He went there every day after school from then on. It took time but eventually he began to develop control over his powers. No more accidental projectiles. Even going so far as being able to use it to make his punches, kicks, jumps, and general movement better than most. At first believing he had to have skin contact but soon realized as long as he was touching them it would work. This allowed him to be able to wear shoes when testing his jumps and movement. He soon found he could even use it to fly to a degree. However after one bad crash landing he never tried it again. One day while Cole was out training. His parents received a visit from a woman named Ooroe Monroe known to most of the world as Storm. She approached them both and told them of how she knew of their son and his powers. How she had come offering to take him to a place where he wouldn't be judged for being a mutant. Where they would help him learn to control his powers. His parents however asked if they would be able to see him. When told that it was unlikely, they quickly declined, saying they would protect Cole. The woman wanting to respect there wishes left them with the simple knowledge that they would be there if Cole ever needed them. A reminder he didn't have to be alone. Shortly after Cole began going out at night and travelling to the city nearby to fight crime. The name he had chosen for that hero was Slingshot. Which in the end was a good thing for two years later the Town discovered what he was, his parents were left with no choice. Having heard of a new school in new york they had no choice but to get their son to safety. Given only enough time to pack his clothes, give him enough money to survive and a train ticket. They sent Cole off on his own. With nothing but the vigilante clothing, a few pairs of clothes and a card that had about a grand on it. He had to find this school. However it was his lucky day, the first day in New York he stumbled upon two well known Xmen, Gambit, and Wolverine. The two seemed to be dealing with some kind of thugs and without thinking he threw on his vigilante coat and the hood went up the mask going on. He had begun to carry a large collection of steel marble with him to use as projectiles. Without missing a beat he dispatched the thugs from afar. But before he could take off Wolverine managed to catch sight of him. Catching his scent, that was what caught him. The next night whilst out on his patrol of sorts he was confronted by Wolverine. Needless to say he was very persuasive. Cole now finds himself one of the older students at the academy placing into his actual grade even with his powers control and to hopefully be able to do some good for the world. POWERS AND ABILITIES Velocity Manipulation: Contrary to what it sounds like, he cannot make himself move faster without assistance from an outside source. He can however make anything or anyone he touches skin contact or not move in a direction at a sudden rapid velocity. This also allows him to add more velocity to his punches, kicks, and general movement. While he is still human and cannot handle a lot of damage. He is somewhat resistant to some pain however a strong enough punch will still render him un-conscious. ROLE-PLAYING SAMPLE Time seemed to suddenly slow to a halt, all this over a freaking girl? Look it wasn't his fault, she kissed him, not vice versa. Guy can't even be decent anymore without the girl thinking he was hitting on her? That was the last of his worries at this point, this was Cole Mercer having the ever holy tar beaten out of him for something a certain miss Kara Heartland did that ticked off the meathead who was currently beatng him up. None the less for some reason Cole wasn't able to simply keep quiet the commentary after each punch sounded pained but he spoke none the less. "That all ya got henry? My grandma hits harder than that....And she has arthritis. Oh nevermind you proably don't even know what that..... Another punch as he rose to his feet. This was getting old, he could vaguely hear voices in the background everything was a little blurry. He wasn't sure he could take another hit like that, after all he was just trying to defend himself now. That was it he had to try and land just one hit. He felt a sudden rush through his arm, as if somehow he had managed to make some kind of force exude from his fist and then it connected. The result startled him, the aggressor now was half way across the gym, through a wall. The kids were all staring too, why was it always like this? Whenever you defended yourself but hurt the other guy bad you were the bad guy? It was bull if you asked Cole, none the less he made a hasty exit. Dashing through the hallway to his locker simply grabbing his things and heading out the nearest exit. He didn't want to be seen at this point. The town he lived in was small enough he managed to walk home in a matter of minutes. Now he had to tell them. This was the tough part, he wasn't sure he could. Thje door opened and the scene was changed, suddenly he was running from police, angry mobs, people who hated mutants, everything. Then without warning he was awake, sitting up straight in his bed he looked around him. He was back at the academy, good.
