He really wasn't that bright was he? Her green gaze watching him wave the wallet in front of her with a very clear unamused look painted on her face as her head rested in the palm of her hand. Jaquelyn let out a heavy, agitated sigh.
"So let me get this straight. You want me, to give you something- that I don't have by the by- for a wallet that isn't mine and couldn't have more than fifty dollars in it and some bad credit? I think I'll pass Rem."
The smile etched back on her face as she mocked the stupid little deal. Jaquelyn surely didn't want to ruin the night or anything, but to be fair she had gotten what she wanted to a lesser extent. There was the staff strapped against her back and a lifeless body over in the park. Well, she didn't get everything Jaquelyn mused looking over Remy again.
Sitting up on the branch, Jaquelyn stretched her arms out with a playful little groan. "We're still friends, we obviously share a common interest, now don't we?" Swinging one leg over the branch she hopped out of the tree, landing with a gentle thud, the balls of her feet absorbing the shock.
Approaching Remy as he still held the wallet in hand, Jaquelyn crossed her arms behind her back, her wrist gently tapping against the cloaked staff. "Don't be such a sore loser. Even with those eyes, its not a very attractive look." Her voice was hushed, obviously entertained now with her sly little grin as she stood just in front of him.
Looking up into his eyes with such a cocky gleam, Jaquelyn's thoughts started to alter. Her hand slowly fell to grip over the metallic object, it reappearing in her hand. "-but...I guess I didn't....play fair..." Her words trailed the deeper she looked into Remy's gorgeous crimson stare. Remy's staff slipped out from under her black, leather belt- loosely gripped in her hand.
The moment she had held the baton out in front of Gambit, she blinked, realizing what exactly she was doing. Obviously she would never just simply hand something over! Jaquelyn's emerald glare returned, beaming at Remy. "What the hell did you just do?" Now empty handed, she was very, very bitter.

"So let me get this straight. You want me, to give you something- that I don't have by the by- for a wallet that isn't mine and couldn't have more than fifty dollars in it and some bad credit? I think I'll pass Rem."
Remy frowned slightly at this statement, the wallet still charged and ready to go. All it took was a simple little throw to turn the leather item into a hand grenade. Damn this girl was good. It was obvious to the X-Man that Streets wasn't going to come along that easily. Her stubbornness made Remy's task of retrieving his beloved staff a more difficult challenge.
Luckily for Remy, he liked challenges. Their banter was like a game of chess, each of them trying to make the other make a stupid mistake in order for an easy coup de grace.
It was at that moment that Remy posed his friendship question. She retorted with saying that were indeed still friends and that they shared a common interest. At this statement, Remy grinned and return it with his own. "Dat we do chere, but maybe dere is more to me then meets da eye. Only you can find dat out." He said, adding a mysterious tone to his voice. Gambit was sure a sucker for the classic, tall, dark and mysterious persona and knew how to pull it off. If Streets had as much in common with him as she said, he knew she couldn't resist his southern charm.
As she jumped down from the tree to walk over to him, Gambit slowly lowered the wallet and uncharged it, letting the girl come to him. "Don't be such a sore loser. Even with those eyes, its not a very attractive look." She said as she approached him.
"I assure you chere, I'm more den just a pretty face." He whispered as he stared into her eyes.
What many people didn't know about Gambit was that he wasn't just able to charge anything in his hand. Unbeknownst to most, he could also be a bit of a manipulator. Using his power, he could charge the brain of a person to allow them to do whatever he suggested. Of course, this tactic was useless against most of Gambit's contemporaries, but with the proper motive and positioning, he could get away with a few things. This was one of them. As Jaquelyn reached the perfect distance, he stared deeper into her pretty emerald gems and used this charge. He gave her the suggestion to hand over the baton. Nearly instantly, the baton reappeared and was delivered straight into his hands.
No sooner had he retrieved his beloved weapon, Jaquelyn snapped out of her trance. Her reaction to having been fooled nearly caused the Cajun to double over in laughter. Instead, he offered a simple explanation.
"Another thing we have in common chere, I don' play fair either." He said, twirling the baton in his right hand in between his index and middle fingers. Normally, he would take this opportunity to leave, but this was no ordinary night. It was still young and he was having too much fun. Besides, Remy LeBeau wasn't one to keep calm in the presence of a pretty woman. "But as a reward for your little tactic, I'll show ya what you got your hands."
In that instance, Remy pressed a button on the middle of the baton. The stick extended into a full bo staff. Remy increased the distance between himself and Jacquelyn for a bit to spin the staff over his head. After a bit of that, he pressed it down on the ground. With a grin, he retracted the pole and placed it in its rightful place in his pocket. Satisfied, he turned back to Jacquelyn.
"Tell me chere, have you ever stolen anything more then some poor sap's wallet?"

If looks could kill, Remy LeBeau would be a dead man. No one could be more of a sore loser than this half of Jaquelyn. She liked to believe she was always a step ahead, playing her cards just right. Hell, there had to be a reason she never got caught and could keep walking the streets doing the things she did. Then again, maybe she just had a decent amount of luck. The other half would scoff at such an idea, she wouldn't exactly consider herself to be lucky with the hand she was dealt in her life. With that thought, Jaquelyn realized that the card references were rubbing off on her.
The glare didn't falter until the little baton expanded out into a full staff, twirling around in front of her face. Still, the look of pure hatred had settled as the staff returned to its compact size. Streets didn't care so much about stealing the thing all over again, but she was certainly going to get even. What better way to complete a night than a little bit of satisfying revenge? When Remy asked her the question, about stealing something other than a measly wallet, a smile slowly grew on her lips.
"Oh, I don't know. Really, what is value? To a thief- everything has a price, but I'm a little bit more than that and I have a feeling you are too." The green glare continued to linger, even with her delighted smile. Taking a step forward, she closed the gap Remy had created between them to show off his little trick with his staff. The second step lingered, leaving some distance between them. For once she didn't want to be too close or it would ruin her own little trick.
Her arms lowered to her sides, fingers spread wide with an audible crack as they extended and clenched. Rotating her wrists, Jaquelyn continued, "So, let me ask you this. Would you say a life is worth more than a wallet?" The smile grew ear to ear. Before Remy could respond to such a thing, Jaquelyn's arm shot up with her palm facing out towards Remy. Her focus honed on her hand, the woman projected the invisible force she wielded into a barrier, pushing it against Remy's body.
Another loud popping of her wrist as she took another step forward. "Oh, did I forget to mention something? A girl can't show all her cards on the flop. Where's the fun in that?" She was starting to take a little pride in continuing the card puns, using them against him. Maybe now he would realize they weren't all that amusing when the tables were turned.
Looking Remy over with a wild, emerald gleam, Jaquelyn continued to step forward. Shoulders rolling up in a small shrug, her brow rose, "What are ya worth Remy?"This was when the real fun began. Streets had grown tired of waiting, but now she saw the opportunity to do as she pleased.

The look of pure hatred that masked itself all over Jacquelyn's pretty face only made Remy's own grin stretch wider. The Cajun had to admit, the girl sure did look hot when she was pissed. Granted, some men would have been terrified to see such a look. But not Remy. Once you have faced Sentinels, The Brotherhood, The Phoenix Force, The Avengers and even served as one of the four horsemen of Apocalypse, you become practically immune to fear.
As Remy showed off with his staff, he noticed that the look had faded. A satisfying feeling came over him as he watched her lips curl into a smile. This girl was an easy one to please. That, or Remy was just that damn good of a charmer.
"Oh, I don't know. Really, what is value? To a thief- everything has a price, but I'm a little bit more than that and I have a feeling you are too." She said as she stepped a little closer to him. His grin softened to a smirk as he reached into his pocket to finger one of his several decks.
“Believe me chere, I'm one of a kind.” He said, his crimson eyes never leaving her emerald ones.
"So, let me ask you this. Would you say a life is worth more than a wallet?" She asked suddenly, her arms lowering to her side. There was a subtle sinister quality to her tone, leaving the X-Man to ponder what was going on. The fight or flight aspect of Remy was telling him to react, but it was too late. The next thing he knew, some sort of invisible force slammed into him with unexpected speed. Gambit gave a surprised shout as the force sent him to the ground. He had no clue what had just happened, but looking up at Streets, to see her grinning as she looked up at him, told him that she had done this. So not only could she turn invisible, but she could send out some sort of invisible force? The earlier comparison to Susan Richards was verified.
"Oh, did I forget to mention something? A girl can't show all her cards on the flop. Where's the fun in that? What are ya worth Remy?"
“I couldn't agree more chere. I haven't dealt my hand either.” He said with a grin, his crimson eyes flashing purple once again as he pulled out a card from his deck. In one smooth movement, he charged the card with kinetic energy and let it fly. The Two of Hearts flew off to the side of Streets, purposely missing her. Instead, it reversed its motion and hit the tree behind them, causing it to explode. As burning leaves and branches fell, Remy flipped up to his feet. The card was not only a distraction, but a way of warning her that he was not a push over. With another playful grin, Remy approached her, now holding three cards charged and ready in his hands.
“Here is another thing we have in common Jaquelyn: we both have our little surprises. I may seem like another ordinary boy from da Big Easy, but my special friends would tell you otherwise.” He said, pondering what kind of reaction he would get if he had simply told her he was a member of the X-Men.
While he was indeed having fun here, he didn't want to resort to violence.
"But I digress chere. I'm more of a lover than a fighter. I'd rather give you diamonds den give you bruises." He said with a flirty wink.
WORDS: TAG:Chere WEARING:Same NOTES:Make love not war chere? Its all up to you.
