DESCRIPTION AND PERSONALITY : Steven has always been tall for his age. He was only seventeen but already stood at 6’1”. With a lanky frame you’d think he could be an athlete, but he was always only marginally athletic and although not fat he would definitely categorize himself as “out of shape.” Other than his height, Steven is usually a pretty unremarkable kid. His shaggy brown hair is always kept at ear length; and his eyes, green in color, appear to have this distant, dead look to them (best described as looking like he just isn’t in the same universe as the other people in the room with him). His wardrobe, however, is somewhat more noticeable. Being a big time superhero fanboy, every single shirt he owns has something related to superheroes on it, with his favorite being his Spider-Man shirt. He normally wears cargo shorts, sandals, and ever varying superhero emblem shirts. Part of that doesn’t change when he enters the School, as underneath his uniform he still keeps these shirts on, now more-so feeling connected to the symbols. While wearing his school uniform, Steven keeps it basically set at the standards, although his tendency to just throw clothes everywhere leaves his shirts obviously un-ironed and his pants without crease. Steven’s personality isn’t very complicated. He fits into just about any standard stereotype for how a teenager acts. He is definitely in the “geek” sub-category, playing video games and reading pretty much all the time. He considers himself to be a social renaissance man because in addition to his nerdy behavior, he is also immersed into the world of sports being a big fan of both hockey and baseball. One thing he has issues with is anger. He isn’t extremely quick to anger, but he does have trouble dealing with his frustrations and that leads to arguments and he usually ends up feeling like an idiot afterwards; however he never apologizes when that happens because he finds it too embarrassing. One redeeming feature about his personality is that his superhero obsession (literally, his room is covered in superhero stuff from all of the Avengers that had merchandise made of them) has given him a pretty strong sense of right and wrong. He never went looking for classmates to stick up for, but he would occasionally be the one to chime in with a “Hey, you better watch out or that’ll get you suspended.” HISTORY Steven had a pretty hum drum childhood. He grew up in Baltimore, Maryland as the oldest of three children (the only son). His father worked in the IT field and his mother was a grocery store manager. He always seemed like a bit of an odd duck as a young child; his imagination was more active than any of his friends. He was always the one who had a hard time distinguishing reality from fantasy when he and his friends played Avengers. It was probably here where both his superhero obsession and his geeky reputation came from. By the time he hit middle school, he had graduated from make believe to video gaming, a hobby he would carry on until the present day. Despite his above average intelligence, Steven pretty much stopped applying himself at this point and his grades dropped and then stayed into the C average area. Eventually he would get into high school, but he kept his immature behavior and hero worship, giving him a reputation among those that knew him as a bit of a weirdo fanboy. He didn’t care though; he only cared about the opinion of the two most important classmates to him. The first was his best friend since elementary school, Tommy. He didn’t have the sheer geek-dom that Steven had, but he always respected Steven for being dedicated to something that much. The other was his girlfriend, Amanda. He had no idea how he ever could have been so lucky as to get a girl like her. Her auburn hair and bright blue eyes paled in comparison to her glowing smile, and she loved him not despite his quirks, but because of him. He had never once felt bad about being as odd as he was; at least, not until a very specific day… POWERS AND ABILITIES Steven’s powers are telekinetic in nature. Note that it’s purely telekinetic, there is no telepathy whatsoever. When his powers kick in, the irises of his eyes turn a mustard yellow color (as opposed to their normal green) and he gains the ability to lift and throw objects. At his current stages, he can lift as heavy as 400 lbs. and throw with his mind. The object he’s picking up gains a glow around it identical in color to his eyes. When he has gain a hold of an object, depending on what it’s made of, he can even crush it (example: He could crush a cheap city trash can, but he could not crush a rock or mail dropbox). The final power he’s managed to give himself is a sort of hover/movement ability. He cannot fly, but he’s managed to make himself able to float about six inches off the ground and he can even (after a lot of practice) propel himself at about average walking speed. A common portrayal in media of telekinetics who overexert themselves is experiencing nosebleeds and Steven learned that he is part of that trope. ROLE-PLAYING SAMPLE Steven was enjoying a wonderfully lazy Saturday afternoon. He had hoped to spend time with either Tommy or Amanda, but Tommy had to do some stupid crap with his parents and Amanda had promised her little sister a sister day, so Steve ended up hanging out home alone. Well, not totally alone. He did have the good people of the Call of Soldiers 8 gaming community to beat up on. ’Oh sure, you whine about ME corner camping just because you can’t get me when YOU do it!’ he thought as he killed yet another member of the opposing team. He never really chatted much online, mostly because he knew better than to feed the trolls. However, his luck started changing about twenty minutes in as a new player joined the other team. From that point on, no matter what he did, Steven kept getting destroyed by this guy. It was like he knew where he was going to be. After several matches he started losing his cool. He went from the best player on his team every match to practically the worst, and it was all because of this one guy. Finally, after turning a corner only to be shotgunned in the face for the final kill, Steven lost it. ”YOU CHEATING #$%^&*(*&^!@# YOU CAN’T BE PLAYING LEGIT!” Steven wasn’t much of a gracious loser, and his temper had flown off the handle. This time, however, something extraordinary occurred. His eyes color changed, becoming mustard yellow in the iris. His game system quickly became surrounded by a glow of the same color as his eyes as it began levitating. At first, Steven was unaware, focused on his ranting, but he was cut short as the screen went black just as a loud crunching noise registered in his ears. Eyes wide, Steven looked at his now destroyed game system, still floating there. His immediate reaction was a justifiable freakout. ”OH MAN OH MAN OH MAN what’s going on?!” he stammered out as he watched pieces fall to the ground, followed a second later by the rest of the now useless scrap, with his eyes returning to their normal green color. At first he thought ghosts or demons, but that passed for an even crazier thought; ’What if I did this?’ he thought. Those ‘high schooler gets superpowers movies’ always started out this way; soon to be hero triggers a power accidentally. He had to test it. Steven focused on the remains of the system, willing it to rise. After a few seconds, his eyes changed color and the warranty voided game system rose up into the air rapidly, slamming into the ceiling. He jumped at that sudden smashing noise, causing his focus to drop as well as the broken mix of wires and plastic. ”This. Is. So. AWESOME.” He couldn’t contain his excitement as he looked around at all the superhero posters in his room. This had officially become the best day of his life and he knew he had to tell someone. Tommy only lived a few blocks away, so Steven didn’t need long to get there. He wouldn’t have taken long anyway, as his pure excitement propelled him into the longest stretch of running he ever did without stopping. He couldn’t wait to show Tommy. This was beyond amazing. He made it to the house in no time flat, charging up to the door. His eyes went to the front bay window and what he saw stopped him dead cold. Someone in Tommy’s house had left the curtains open, and beyond those he could see Tommy on his couch, making out with Amanda. Steven just stood there for a full minute in disbelief. Tommy had been his lifelong friend and the person he trusted most, and he was in love with Amanda. And there they both were, betraying him in the worst imaginable way. The next thing Steven could remember was that his parents were packing up his stuff and some people he’d never met were standing in his living room. He was only mildly aware that one of them had wings. He would later be told that he had an episode shortly after a latent mutant gene had manifested, and the shock and anger he felt seeing his best friend and girlfriend together had caused a blackout. During the blackout he snapped and using his new powers telekinetically grabbed his friend’s mailbox and hurled it through the window, hitting Tommy in the head and putting him in the hospital with a concussion. He would have gone to jail were it not for the intervention of faculty from the Jean Grey School for Higher Learning, who were able to persuade both the Baltimore Police Department and Steven’s parents that the best thing for him would not be juvenile detention but attending their school. Apparently the one with wings was able to convince them that the shock of the mutant gene activating and seeing something that would send any teen up a wall had created an overwhelming situation he was ill-equipped to handle. It wasn’t long before he was unpacking everything in his new home, the dormitories of the Jean Grey School for Higher Learning, still confused about what was now both the greatest and the worst day in his life. application was passed by Falcon | [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellpadding,0,true][atrb=valign,top][atrb=cellspacing,0,true][atrb=style, width: 40px;] P S Y O P S |
