To be honest, Sooraya was unsure why no one had proposed it before.
Or perhaps someone had, and it was still in the works? That was possible, but she did not think it would take too long... All she needed to do was to make sure that such a thing would be allowed, ask for any suggestions or permissions on the matter, and, then, she'd put up a sign up sheet and see how many people wished to join in on such a matter.
Two times would work best, yes? One on Mondays and Wednesdays, and one on Tuesdays and Thursdays, you're only obliged to attend one, but both are recommended, and that left Fridays open for any individual help, as well as the weekend?
Yes, Sooraya thought that was a good plan for a study group for the new ones. The innocent new ones.
Either way, though, she had to gain permission first. She was not certain if that was required, but given that she may want additional permissions (field trips, danger room sessions, oh, she was getting ahead of herself, but really, she wished to make this the best that she could), and she did not wish to have the whole operation shut down if permissions were not required, it was best to ask.
And, though she was not intimately knowledgeable about Rachel Grey, she would likely be one to go for for this, and seemed to be the least busy at the moment.
And she did not wish to bother Headmaster Logan with a trivial detail such as this.
Either way, she had to ask. Thus, carefully, Sooraya raised her hand, one of the very few parts of her not covered, to rap lightly on the door to Rachel Grey's office, her accented voice speaking up.
"Ms. Grey? Are you busy at the moment?"

Rachel didn't really want to be here right now. Honestly the longer she spent running classes and grading papers the more she wished she was knee deep in Sentinel parts. Was it safer? No. But it made her feel as if her natural talents were being used to something more.... tangible. It would be something that she could feel in her hands and sense in her surroundings. Teaching had become necessary, as the X-Men lost more and more of the experienced numbers to age, death, career changes, relationships, betrayals, and more. She sat now in her office, crumpling a piece of paper in her hand and tossing it across the room toward a wastebasket. The shot missed by a solid ten inches, until it froze in mid-air and then suddenly curved outside the expected realm of physics and made its way directly into the small trash bin beside her door. And then came the knock on the door. Rachel sipped the glass of water at her desk when the knock came at once, and she swallowed the water from it before putting the glass down. Her eyes flickered briefly as her senses reached out beyond the wood and drywall that separated the office from the hallway. ~"No, I'm not busy. Come on in."~ the younger mutant would hear. Only it wasn't words crossing the distance between them. The words simply... echoed in her mind unbidden.

She... was not a fan of telepathic speaking. Not that she was not fond of telepaths, she was, she had met many good ones, but the way that the words echoed there, so intrusive... No, she did not like it, but Sooraya accepted it nonetheless, carefully opening the door, shutting it quietly behind her, and drifting in to stand before the desk.
Ms. Grey was not one that she knew, not well at all (she had a faint inkling of all of the X-Men, at least all of the current, simply from reading and watching, two things she was very good at, but they did not know each other personally, here), but... no need to cast her mind back to earlier, uncertain thoughts.
"Ms. Grey, I was wondering if I would be able to form a sort of study group," Sooraya began, words measured and careful. "Given that there are so many new mutants, but at the same time, there are experienced students such as myself, who are even X-Men, I thought it would be beneficial for them if they had older students to guide them, with homework, questions, life, training..."
She did not know if other students would be willing to do so (perhaps they could offer it as extra credit if they wished to have more? She knew many that could use extra credit), but at very minimum, she would like to do so... School was only necessary for her in that she did not know many 'basic' aspects (math, science, and the like), and that it was, well, home.
Everything about controlling your powers, fighting, being an X-Men... Sooraya certainly wasn't the best, she was not conceited, but she had it well under hand.
Helping others was something she wanted to try for here.

Rachel struggled against the exhaustion that was seeping into her body. She had barely slept in days, and her eyes were straining to even stay open. When she did sleep, it was for two, maybe three hours... all of it broken and fragmented. She rubbed her eyes for a moment as she folded the binder in front of her closed and slid her chair back a little. She leaned forward to place her elbows on the desk, the sweater lightly tugging down. She let out a faint sigh as she closed her eyes, taking the strain off of all the print reading she was doing. "Um... yeah. That's... that's fine. I'm not sure who we have available from the older X-Men right now. Sometimes it feels like these halls are some kind of a revolving door." she muses wistfully. She wanted a nap so badly, a real nap with real sleep but she knew it was not going to come. She slowly pulled her hands from her eyes, opening them back up as she looks at Sooraya. "Did you have any names in particular you wanted to get involved in this kind of program?" she asked with as much curiosity as she could muster given her fatigue.
