When James Howlett was angry, there was only two things you could possibly do: Option A: Run as fast as you could before your body collapses or Option B: Let him slice open as many things as possible that isn't you until he calmed down.
Unfortunately for most people, James Howlett was usually angry. In fact, catching him in a moment where he wasn't angry was like encountering the Hulk in a meditative state with calming music and essence floating through the air. That said however, he always had a reason to be in a bad mood. You ask any of the other X-Men and they will tell you that with all that he had been through, it's no wonder that he was always in a bad mood.
Today, his anger was absolutely justified.
Dressed in his iconic Yellow and Blue uniform, James Howlett, the X-Man and Avenger known to the world as Wolverine, stood in the middle of the Institute's famous training simulator room, a metallic chamber aptly named "the Danger Room". In front of him stood a select group of students, their eyes wide with awe as they took in the impressive sight of the X-Men's legendary training room. While another teacher, such as Professor LeBeau, would have allowed the students the chance to take it all in, Wolverine was going to have none of this today.
After the attack on his students by what he believed to be a new type of Sentinel and uncovering that mysterious message that Beast and the others still hadn't decoded, he had just spent the last half hour yelling at Captain America and Iron Man about the incident. Despite being a full time member of the Avengers, the recent events made Logan rearrange his priorities, much to the dismay of the other Avengers . Sure Cap needed him on missions, but his students and staff needed him too. Especially if this was an attack against mutant kind, Logan stuck with his people. Captain America should have known this by now.
Logan had another reason to be angry at Tony Stark, the rich playboy known to the world as the Invincible Iron Man. With Stark's advanced technology, he could have helped Logan out by analyzing these supposed Sentinels in order to discover who was behind all of this. Unfortunately, Stark had stated multiple times that he needed a sample in order to perform such a search. This only increased Logan's frustration as he continued to reflect on the situation at hand. There was no way they could get such a sample if they didn't know what exactly they were up against.
That said, Logan decided that the only way his students were going to be able to survive this new threat was to learn how to deal with a Sentinel.
Logan frowned, crossing his arms as he cleared his throat, intending to capture his students' attention. Once all eyes were on him, he spoke.
“First question: How many of you know what a Sentinel is? Second question: Who can tell me what a Sentinel is?”

She felt... old.
It was a novel experience, given that she was most certainly on the younger end of the X-Men spectrum, but she did. This room was where she had previously practiced, talked to her team, fought for the right of one last team, when there were no others to remain...
That seemed like so long ago. So, so, achingly long ago.
In the back of the crowd, standing away from the rest of the students, she stood, one hand covering her mouth, placed over her niqab, eyes closed. Most of them, if not all of them, had not been here before. They did not know how it had been before, could not see the subtle nuances that existed between the original incarnation and this one, how certain features had not been here before, and how some were missing, how it didn't line up with how her previous battles had been, how where Hellion had been thrown was gone, how the spot that X-23 battled others was changed, how Kevin-
She envied them. She should not, Allah forbid her, she should not, but she did.
It was not though it would change, though, and Sooraya took a deep breath, before carefully speaking up, her voice clear, but not loud, drawing attention to her abaya-clad figure in the back of the crowd. "I do not know if you would wish me to answer it, sir, but Sentinels are robots, that were created to hunt down... those like us. They are quite powerful, and some can even change forms."
She remembered fighting... that one, once upon a time, ever so long ago, when things were still whole, good, and not damaged. Hurt, yes, she did not think there was a time without hurt, but not broken.
Being here was making her recall far too much.

Pure excitement. There was no other word that could describe how Steve felt at this very moment. He was in a training room with Wolverine. There were other super-powered people around him. He was going to learn how to fight bad guys. It is practically a miracle that his brain didn't die just in case this was the best his life ever got.
He stood with the group, picking and tugging at his suit. It was and all dark blue color with yellow striping that began at the top of his shoulders and ran all the way down to his hands, covering his four fingers in yellow. In addition, the boots on his feet were completely yellow to balance out the color scheme. And dead center in the middle of his chest, the iconic yellow X of the X-Men. Steve was so proud of it right now.
Steve looked around the room. 'This is so amazing! We're all doing superhero training!' he though as he examined the other students. He couldn't really tell how any of them were feeling, but he'd bet the farm that none of them were as excited as he was. He kind of expected more people to have been here. After all, who WOULDN'T want to get fighting lessons from an Avenger and leader of the X-Men!
The Headmaster asked the group if they knew what Sentinels were. Did Steve know? HA! He'd spent HOURS in forums arguing over stuff like how they worked and what powers would be best for taking one out (Cyclops powers were the popular choice on most occasions). He was about to throw his hand up and answer when one of the other students spoke up and stole his thunder.
Looking at her got Steven thinking; 'I wonder what all these guys mutations are. I mean, none of them are like Professor Beast mutated or anything, I wonder what they can all do. Steven find that any time he was around a group of students he found himself having this thought. It usually ended with him comparing any mutations that he saw to his own. The problem with that was that as cool as he still found his power to be, he felt like it came in short compared to other people like the teachers and a lot of the students. He was a telekinetic that could only move about five hundred pounds worth of stuff before being too strained to lift it. He really wished it was at a level more along the lines of car throwing or something. Supposedly telekinetics were super powerful like that, but he felt like he may have drawn the short straw in this.
Either way, as cool as his suit was, the dang thing still clung a bit tight and he found himself once again picking at it to try and move it around so it didn't irritate the skin or tug on arm hair.

Cole finally got to train with Wolverine and it wasn't punishment! Well granted Cole enjoyed the danger room sessions it gave him a chance to test his powers. He had found his way to the danger room rather easily it wasn't too hard to find. Right away he recognized the uniform, it made him a bit giddy, he had read the news reports watched what videos he could find of the super heroes in action. It was harder than you thought honestly. But he did it, found footage here and there, it inspired him to take up the mask and help people. People who needed him, sure he hadn't ever saved the world, but he had stopped that lady from being robbed, he had saved people from assaults, and even stopped a full on robbery or two, small time things but he did them to help people.
Cole hadn't really dressed in anything fancy, a simple plain black T shirt, a pair of dark blue jeans. His silver hair somewhat spiking as it always did, his hands resting in his pockets as he leaned against the nearest walls. In his pockets were pouches full of marbles. His weapons of choice, these robots were still giant metal toys, they could be broken, right? Well Cole believed him and Atta together could take on anything, they were one helluva team after all.
But here at the academy he learned there was more than just sheer power, there was making them work in execution. None the less looking around the room he wondered who all could do what. Well except for one, Atta, who no doubt was somewhere near him. They trained together after all, he had even told her how much he wanted to show off their team work during the session impress Wolverine and show off, above all make it a bit flashy. Cole had never tried to show off before but with Atta around he couldn't help it, pushing himself harder to do that little extra mainly to impress her. Not that he had to but rather he wanted to, then the voice of Headmaster Logan rang out asking if they knew what Sentinels were. He had seen the vids, but he never had to face one before he had a feeling they were about to. None the less he spoke up. His tone rather confidant but at the sametime having that determination they were gonna pay for what they did to Atta. Cole wasn't angry, he just wanted to break these machines for hurting Atta. They had it coming, they were mutant hunting robots, honestly he was surprised that was even legal.
“What the robed lady said, mutant hunter robots, with big laser gun hand thingies right? Headshots still shut em' down though right?”
He asked, he wanted to know, if a head shot was all it would take Cole would be sentinel killing machine, no metal can withstand an impact at a high enough velocity. It would be far too easy to just pop each one in the head after all he had a distinct feeling it wasn't going to be...

For the first time since he stepped foot on the campus, he was seeing his friends and classmates as warriors and, dare he say it, outcasts. Since his birth and past the day his powers outed him as a mutant, he never felt different. He was proud of who and what he was, but not because he needed to stand tall against the condemning eyes of others. He had been excited to be a part of the mutant body, and had troubles watching others sit in sorrow or anger at who they were. Even after the attacks it never hit him with the same gravitational impact of that day. For a moment he could hear his heart beat, and feel it speed up as his eyes close remembering the panic, the burning in his lungs and throat as he ran for not only his life, but for a friends as well.
Soft blue hues peaked out from behind his opening eyes, to peer over to Steven. Wondering what was going through the others mind, curious how the other day had effected him. Outwardly it didn't seem like he was all to worried, and as he continued to taking each in turn, the students that had signed up, a smile came back to his face. There was determination, and fire in them all. Fear was reasonable, but it was a hero who used it not to dwell on but to fuel the burning need to fight for and protect others. It was the first day of feeling the burden of his mutant heritage, but it was also the closest he had felt to everyone around him. A deep breath, calmed the last flutters of his fear and corrected his posture. Shoulders relaxing and emotions finally in check.
Andrey's head snapped back to look at Logan when he spoke, any previous worry finally being converted into energy as his idol posed the question. Lips pulling back into a full on grin as he heard Dust speak up from the back of the room. That was what he needed, to get out of the silence and hear his friends and allies around him. Everyone was here to learn, and with Dust and Wolverine among them, there was sure to be a lot to take in.
Andrey did in turn look to Cole as he added to the dyanmic answer. Cole was another face he recognized, but not as closely as others in the room. Still, there was motive in his voice, and Andrey could guess the reason behind it, or rather the one standing right next to him. His friend had not been as lucky as himself and Steven, and cut things close to the end of the line before she was brought back in the safety of the hospital walls. Inspiring though, to see such determination and close bonds already formed.
Glance Drifting back to Logan, Andrey swallowed away any nerves left unchecked before adding his own two scents. "Robots, that can pic us out in a crowd..simply by touch I think?..they look like anyone, and change at a moments notice...and as the others stated, all to perfectly designed to get the jump on any mutant with or without any prior offenses. Sir."

She knew she didn't have to come, she had signed up for this of her own will, but being here was different. Sure she had Cole at her side, but there was something about the giant metal dome room that set her on edge. Not to mention the gathering of other students, a hazard waiting to send one of the to the hospital she as sure, or her back to it. Not on her list of wanted outcomes for today.
Arm brushing Cole's, she kept herself close and through him, found the strength not to turn around and leave. If her best friend could do it then so could she. Besides, learning how to mess up those goon bots was something she wanted more than anything right now. Maybe it would not have been so bad, if she didn't feel like this place appear to be one giant conductive steel trap. The perfect breeding ground for her powers to go hay wire. That, or this simulation would get on the way and her abilities would screw up the controls and beat them all into the ground. Everyone accept the ever angry leader of the pack.
Atta couldn't put her finger on why she seemed to dislike Logan so much, it was just something about him that rubbed her the wrong way. He certainly deserved some respect, but nothing more then a scowl came to her face when she looked up to hear his questions. Only to roll her eyes shortly after and start tapping her foot on the ground. Nervous cramps filling her gut as she thought of the look on everyone's face is she shocked one of the students. God, why did it have to be a metal room.
Mind still wandering, she only cued back in when Cole spoke up, a brief smile catching her lips as she listened to in inquire about a weakness. Cole had been there with her through the worst days of her life, laying in that hospital bed with terrible food and being bored out of her mind. Even now her body was still weaker then usual, and she would get tired easily. One more notch on her worry scale. Sure she trained in the junkyard with Cole as her mentor but she still shock him on occasion, and that was fully conscious and in prime condition. Plus, it was with him, some one she trusted. Atta barely knew half the students present, and her old fears were getting the better of her.
Leaning into Cole when Andrey spoke up she glanced to the entrance and exit with a sigh. "We could just listen to weaknesses and just get out of this freak show?" she offered, knowing she wouldn't leave unless he did, but also certain he would not go if she didn't pressure him. It was a messed up little cycle but she enjoyed it.

Why oh why did he sign up for this? The white haired teen would have preferred being in bed, lazing about the day without a care in the world. Unfortunately when one was classified as a mutant, or as Magneto liked to call them, homo-superior, living life without care or worries was kind of out of the question. When you're hated by the public, hunted by certain groups and organizations, and forced to hide your powers, all while trying to balance a social life and school work made life kind of taxing. But honestly? He wouldn't trade it for the world! Well, except right now, when he'd rather be asleep than standing among a group of his peers about to be drilled by the harder than concrete Headmaster Logan, a.k.a Wolverine.
Though he couldn't lie, there was an exciting aspect to this. He was among the few that were going to get a personal Danger Room session with THE Wolverine! This was the kind of stuff legends were made of! He couldn't wait to go bragging to the other kids! 'Oh, hey Kevin, where were you?' "Who me? Oh, no where. Just having a training session with WOLVE-FRIGGIN'-RINE!" Now that he thought about it, the other kids might not be that envious. But it was okay! He was excited enough about it, and that was all that mattered!
He scanned the room, nodding at each of his fellow classmates. These would be the people who he would ascend to the ranks of greatness with. And honestly? He didn't have a single problem with any of the people who were there.
When Master Logan asked the question, he kept his mouth shut. He had no idea what a sentinel was outside of rumors, but luckily he had his peers to answer the question for him. "Yeah, what they said! And I heard they smell really bad too." He chimed in. Now that he thought about it, taking a joking approach to a serious question from Wolverine probably wasn't the best of ideas but he couldn't help himself sometimes. Hopefully he'd just skim past it like he hadn't opened his mouth at all and they could keep things rolling. Since when did he have good luck though?

Physical Education. That had to be one of Liyang's least favorite classes. And this was looking like it was going to be a crazy advance version of that. He had taken his place near the white haired Kevin, his head lowered and stared at his own two feet. He was nervous. Liyang did not have much control over the abilities he had. It is why he is here in the institute to begin with. Still, he did not want to hurt anyone even if it was indirectly.
His head jolted up and eyes focused on Logan as he finally started to speak. Liyang held much respect for Logan and he was sure many more did so training with him was an honor. When Logan spoke of these sentential, Liyang slightly titled his head to the side. He was the new, one of the new kids, so he did not know much. Hell, he did not much about anything outside of the realm of his normal life... What was his normal life before his abilities became active.
Liyang nodded in agreement to everyone's answer to Logan's question. If he would have just asked Liyang he would have told him it was some sports organization... But robots built to hunt mutants? Looking around at his peers, Liyang got the feeling that he was the only one a bit scared now. Liyang slowly lifted his hand to get Logan's attention before he opened his mouth to speak.
"Robots built to hunt us down, correct? ...This is gonna sound cowardly, but can we not fight them? I mean, I just came here to learn to control my powers and possibly make some new friends." He was a bit disappointed in himself, but he was being honest. He did not sign up to fight sentinels. He just wanted to learn to control his abilities so that he could possibly return to his normal life. It was selfish, especially when he thought about those who had a mutation like the Beast.

No sooner had Logan posed the questions, the hands rose to give their responses. As each student began to give their own definition of what a Sentinel was, Wolverine's dark eyes took in the group, to see what he had to work with today. Some students, such as the psychic boy that was codenamed Psy-Ops, the speedster known as Sonic, and Cole, the rebellious youth known as Slingshot, were eager to get things started by the looks of it, as if the idea of taking down sentinels was exciting. Little did they know that they were gonna be in for a helluva time, especially with what Logan had planning.
The others, such as Atta, a girl who reminded Logan of a young Kitty Pryde with a slight mix of Quentin Quire, couldn't resist to hold back a sarcastic comment about today's session, which of course, only added fuel to the fire that was Logan's temper. As soon as she had finished her quip, Logan's eyes narrowed as he bared his teeth.
“You got anything better ta do today pipsqueak? No? Then shut up and listen.” The feral X-man snarled as he turned his attention up to the control room. That was the signal for Remy to activate today's training program.
In an instant, the metallic atmosphere faded as the group found themselves in the middle of Times Square, the moon shining high above them as the sounds of city echoed around them. Despite the busy environment, it still gave off a peaceful vibe, as if it was just another ordinary night in the City that Never Sleeps.
As the students of the Jean Grey School for Higher Learning would soon come to understand, nothing was normal when it came to the X-Men.
Instantly, the symphony of sirens, footsteps, and chatter was interrupted by the roar of engine fire, like the afterburners of an F-22 Raptor. Three black spots materialized in front of the white moon, growing larger and larger as they descended. The digitized New Yorkers screamed as the spots took the form of gigantic, purple, humanoid, metallic giants, each bearing a similar blank, yet menacing look on their faces. They landed inches behind Logan, generating a loud bang as they crashed down on the pavement.
“These are Sentinels.” Logan gestured, walking away to lean against a nearby lamppost. "And you are gonna try to take them down. I'll jump in only if its absolutely necessary, but I want to see how you all deal with em.”
With that, the Sentinels turned their attention to the students and began their advancement. Logan had purposely set the program's difficulty to easy, but he planned on increasing it once the students got used to this setting. Before he jumped in on the action, he needed to see exactly what this group could do and how they interacted with one another. If they were going to be successful against this new threat, teamwork was key (and that was strange coming from Logan himself).
WORDS: TAG:Sooray WEARING:Astonishing X-Men garb NOTES:Sorry for the delay folks, I hate work. But here we go. Logan will jump in to help out every once and a while, but I want to see how you all handle a sentinel. These sentinels are NPC for now so have some fun!
