Logan was right, it was time to teach this new generation the same things that they were taught. It was only right, to pass on the knowledge they have received from the Professor. Bobby moved through the halls of the Jean Grey Institute with pride in his eyes and a higher objective in his mind. Today was an overall pleasant one the sun was nice and high with only a few clouds to crowd it. Being the laid back person he is Bobby strolled through the halls with not much of a care, to be honest he was certainly glad that the students were still settling in. It meant that he had a bit more time to himself, well time in between the tasks Logan set him off to do. Unlock a room, change a bulb, very last minute stuff but time consuming non the less. Soon Bobby would actually have to teach which would officially bring an end to his free living lifestyle. He felt sorry for the faculty who already had their classes set, but better them than him.
As Bobby continued his path through the halls he saw the new faces of the next generation of mutant kind running through. They reminded him of himself in the early years. He allowed his large grin to dominate his face as he watched his students. Bobby was quickly thrown back into reality with a buzz from his phone. Oh great, what does he want now Bobby winced as he pulled the phone to his ear. Yeah Logan. 'He's where? Alright I'm going
Bobby ended his call and looked up with pride. Apparently as Logan had informed him, there was a student that actually requested a lesson with the man of ice himself. Bobby quickly changed his direction and headed out towards the field. I can't believe it, I'm famous Bobby said with much enthusiasm. With a new spring in his step Bobby made his way to the far end of the grounds of the school. This particular area was reserved for long ranged target practice and accompanied with various targets at different lengths. There Bobby saw his little fan, obviously waiting for the master lesson with the Iceman. Hey! Bobby yelled as he approached, his head getting larger with his ego.

All that he had to do was get really upset about something, and then the bones came flying out of him like missiles. What he needed to work on how to use his powers properly, which really meant being able to hit what he was aiming at. Since target practice was his game, he had been told to come to shooting field, which was equipped with plenty of targets to fire at as well as no one to accidentally impale on accident.
Now, there were several members of the faculty that he wasn't annoyed with, but Kyle had come to the conclusion that it would be a lot more interesting to hang out with the Iceman. He was pretty sure that he had heard that the guy had used ice spikes at one time or another, which was similar to his bones. Overall, Kyle was absolutely sure that Iceman was going to be his favorite X-Men. At least, his favorite until he met some of the female X-Men, and then his priorities would definitely change appropriately. Of course, there was no need to tell his teacher that.
Speaking of his teacher, Kyle turned to see said snowman coming towards him, so he decided that he should be friendly as long as the lesson was going on. “Greetings there, Mist...Profess...Doc...What is the proper title I should use when addressing you?” It was rather odd to have to call his teacher's something other than Mr. whatever there name was, but then again there was nothing normal about being at a mutant school so maybe he was supposed to call the guy by his codename.

Bobby approached the student with his usual cheery nature about him. Within moments he realized who it was. It was one of the newer students with this ability to fire projectiles from his body. Yes that's exactly who it was, he had heard Gambit talking about him. He had been eavesdropping for that particular conversation. But perhaps it was some kind of fate, maybe Bobby was meant to teach this new student. As Bobby approached the student his mind began to twist his logic so he could continue in his carefree ways. Salutations student it is marvelous to meet you Bobby said using his professional macho teacher voice that he had been working on.
Greetings there, Mist...Profess...Doc...What is the proper title I should use when addressing you?
Hmm what was he to be called. It had to be something to relate his awesome ice powers and his carefree life but also gaining the power of a teacher. Suddenly it popped into Bobby's mind like an innocent explosion of ideas. You can call me Professor Iceman he said with a widening grin. Yes that would be perfect, it was genius. So I hear you want to learn how to aim those projectiles of yours. Well lets see what you got Bobby turned to face a target at least 50 feet away. Stretching as he molded into his icy form he turned his head to just get a look at Kyle. Watch this he smirked as he fired a thin icicle from his hand, nailing the target right in the sweet spot. Now it's your turn lets see what you can do.
Iceman took a step to the side for Kyle to get ready. Maybe he would hit the target which meant that Bobby really didnt have to teach much. It was a small little plan, maybe it was too much to wish for. Bobby looked back on his first days at the institute, his aim was horrendous. It took him years to even get on the target board even with the help of Cyclops. No he would make a difference with Kyle, teach him all the things that he was taught, yes that would be a great measure of his position at the school. Maybe Logan would even thank him for his teachings. Bobby pulled his head out of his fantasy and tried to look somewhat professional. So you ready?/color]

Then again, it was pretty hard to forget someone who transformed into ice, but Kyle wasn't going to criticize him because of that reason. He didn't think that the guy would lash out in anger, but there many guys at his high school who were into retaliatory pranks and he wasn't sure if people ever outgrew that type of behavior. It was better to stay on the safe side.
“I figure I might as well know how to use my powers properly since I can't ignore them any longer, and I heard you were good at this sort of thing so I put in a request to have you teach me some stuff.” It also had a lot to do with the fact that there powers were sort of similar enough that Kyle could mimic whatever it was that his teacher did, but he would have to pace himself so that he didn't overexert himself since producing the bone apparently drained his body's calcium supply.
It was at that moment that Iceman became an ice man and then fired an icicle at a target that was a good distance away, and Kyle had to admit that he was impressed by it. Of course, then the guy told him to repeat what had been done, and Kyle knew it wasn't going to be that easy. Well, it wasn't going to be that easy, but Kyle raised his hand and started to take aim for the target. "Don't know if I am ready or not. I guess we will find out, won't we?”
With that being said, Kyle tried to launch a single spike from his arm, but nothing was happening. Then he remembered what his trigger was, so he began to think of all of the things that ticked him off. First, it was the guys who had forced his mutation into activating in the first place, and then it shifted to the guy who tried to blow him up the other day. Finally, his thoughts focused on the over-sized oaf who had knocked him to the ground by walking into him, and that was when several bone spikes shot out of his arm toward the target. Out of about six spikes, only one of the hit the target, and it wasn't a fatal shot in his opinion.

"Well that wasn't too bad" Iceman said marveling at the attempt of his protege. "However I get the feeling that you are trying to hit the target no matter what. If you look only one shot made the target" Iceman gave his training center another look through. It seems that the overwhelming force that his student pushes his spikes out is enough to cause an incredible amount of damage to a standing opponent. In a close fight the goal is not to kill, Iceman remembers that from his time way back when at the Xavier institute. If something happens and Kyle isn't able to control his power, something will happen that he wouldn't be ready for. "You should try to just breathe very calmly and focus on the target and nothing else."
Iceman paused, trying to remember what Cyclops taught him all those years ago was pretty hard stuff. Even though Cyclops was only a few years older than himself, he acted much more mature. He defiantly had a better grip on his powers than Iceman did back in those days. Something about concentration and focus was all he could remember, better roll with it.
"I know it might seem tough but try to shoot only one projectile at the target. Concentrate on your one shot and breathe. Always breathe steady and calm" Yeah that defiantly sounds like something Cyclops would say, well old Cyclops anyway. "Remember you want to get this control, the more control you have the better you'll feel about your powers. And it all starts with steady breathing"
Geez nice one Iceman did you forget to add anything about breathing. You totally weren't the best person for the job. I'm sure Gambit would have been the better choice, though the kid might not have understood his accent. Who can. Iceman continued to argue in his head for a few more minutes before returning to the actual lesson at hand.

Even Kyle had to admit, the Iceman had a point about the chosen method for going about this training session, and the young man realized that he was putting too much of his time and energy on activating his power instead of what he wanted to accomplish with it. While he knew his trigger, it didn’t accelerate the process any, so he would have to try his teacher’s suggestion to see if that worked any better. It certainly couldn’t make him do any worse at the current assignment. Well, he supposed that it might result in his power not working at all, which would be a bad thing.
“So calm down and focus on the task at hand? Got it,” Kyle responded. His eyes zeroed in on the target, and the bone slinger did his best to calm himself down with little to no success. It probably didn’t help that his instructor just told him to fire only one bone spike at the target, which was like asking him to speak in sentences without using the letter ‘e’, but the more that he thought about it the more that it seemed as though he needed to act like a sniper in one of the video games that he used to play at home.
Bracing his right arm with his left hand, Kyle took aim at the target once more, and this time he kept thinking the same thing over and over again: ‘one bone spike in the target’. Breathing in and out very slowly, he worked himself into a rhythmic pattern until his mind sort of calmed down, and that is when he fired the projectile at the target. “So did I do any better,” he asked as he knelt down to the ground.
While he was too exhausted from the exertion to look himself, it was obvious that he had hit the target with that one shot, but it was sort of near the bottom of the target.

Iceman gave a small smirk after his young protege was able to actually get something from the improvised lesson. Iceman surveyed the new attempt by Kyle, the new shot was off but he was able to limit himself to using only one. Maybe now Kyle would be able to see that if he concentrates he wouldn't have to overdue himself in order to get the job done. Slowly he will be able to actually control his power, all in good time. Iceman began to nod and approve of the new attempt, "Good job Kyle" Iceman said using his deep professional teacher type voice. "While it might take you a while to perfect your aim, if you focus on limiting yourself and not relying on a cluster of projectiles. I can tell you that you will become a great marksman in time. And maybe one day you will be able to do this" Iceman moved himself in front of the target and then covered his eyes with one of his icy mitts. Then in one quick breathe he launched an icicle rocketing towards the target for the bullseye. Iceman began to chuckel at the feat, good use of his time. He was only allowed one show-off move per lesson as per his agreement with Logan. Though his time was well worth is.
Iceman turned to his protege to find him on the floor. At such a young stage of course his powers would be a lot of strain he thought to himself. "Great nice work you almost kill the kid on the first lesson."
After iceman was done scolding himself in his head he moved to help Kyle to his feet. Making sure to step out of his icy form, Bobby held out his hand and began to lift his student up. "Come on lets get back to the school, i think that is enough for today"

When he had composed himself enough to look, Kyle could see what Prof. Icy meant by it taking him a while to perfect his aim. If this had been a real combat situation, then the bone spike would have only slightly wounded his target, and that was if the target was standing perfectly still which would never be the case. Perhaps it would be better for him to start with closer targets, and while he was at it Kyle figured that he should figure out how to make the spikes smaller so he didn’t wear himself as quickly as he had done or at least remember to bring along some milk in a cooler to keep his strength up.
“I’ll make a note of that on my next go,” he said as watched to see what his instructor was doing. It was sort of amazing to see the guy hit the target without actually looking at it, but it probably would have been more impressive to see Iceman hit a moving target while his vision was obscured. Of course, Kyle figured that maybe the icy fellow could in fact do that but didn’t want to show off a particular skill that Kyle might try to replicate on his own, which would most likely lead to someone getting hurt. If that was the goal, then it was one that wasn’t met as the young man wanted to master both of the things that were running on repeat in his head.
Alas, it seemed like that would be all for today as Professor Iceman announced that he was calling it, which probably came from the fact that Kyle looked completely worn out. “Thanks.” It was the only thing that he could think of to say, and it was meant to show gratitude not only for the assistance in getting up but also the lesson which made him eager to practice more. “Are you sure that you want to call it? I think that I’ll be okay to keep going for a little bit.”

Bobby looked at Kyle with one of his most puzzled looks. He appeared to be down for the count, down to the floor is a general marker for exhaustion. Iceman continued to lift his student up to his feet. "Are you sure about that? You look pretty worse for the ware" Great a try hard student. It figures how in Bobby's first real student teacher lesson he would get a student completely opposite of him. Everyone knows that Iceman was never the most serious and focused one. Being his original laid back self doing too much work in a day always drained him.
"Just like Scott" Iceman thought to himself. Yes the more he thought about it that was a pretty good comparison. Scott never wanted to really stop the lesson, he always wanted more control and would work until he got it perfect. But that was a long time ago, back when being an x-man made sense and there was a clear villain to fight. Bobby shook his head in an attempt to cheer himself up. He looked to Kyle again, "If you still want to continue try this on for size" With another thought Bobby commanded his powers of ice to create a large structure in front of the two.
The aura of blue energy that began to flow from Bobby's hand collided with itself forming more of Bobby's trademark ice structures. The new ice began to form around itself to take the shape of a pillar with a target resting at the very top. The structure finalized its form ten yards away from the two resting at least fifteen feet in the air. "Ok same drill as before. Focus your breathing and move your sight to the target. Remember limit yourself to just one spike"Bobby then stepped to the side and made room for Kyle to attempt his new shot. Not an incredibly hard shot, but with limiting his use of his powers and asking him to attempt this new angle might give the motivation he needs to really step his powers up. Only time would tell now.
